Al-Khalili Announces the Launch of 15 Initiatives to Economically Empower Women’s Associations in Jericho and Al-Aghwar Governorate

Jericho – Minister of Women’s Affairs Ms. Mona Al-Khalili participated in a field mission organized by the Palestinian Government in Jericho and Jordan Valley Governorate. The delegation also included Minister of Labour Dr. Inas Al-Attari, Minister of Industry Mr. Arafat Asfour, and Head of the Environment Quality Authority Eng. Zaghloul Samhan.

The mission aimed to assess the prevailing conditions and priority needs of the governorate, while strengthening direct engagement and coordination with governmental institutions, civil society organizations, and productive sectors.

The mission commenced with a visit to the headquarters of Jericho and Jordan Valley Governorate, where the delegation was received by Governor Dr. Hussein Hamayel. The Governor provided a comprehensive overview of the situation in the governorate, the key challenges it faces, and its development priorities, as well as the ongoing efforts to strengthen the resilience of Palestinian communities in the Jordan Valley.

During a visit to the Jericho Women’s Charitable Society, Minister of Women’s Affairs Ms. Mona Al-Khalili announced the launch of 15 women’s economic empowerment initiatives in Jericho and Jordan Valley Governorate. The initiatives form part of a programme implemented by the Ministry to support women-led productive and entrepreneurial projects across the governorates of the State of Palestine.

“Today, we announce the launch of 15 women’s economic empowerment initiatives in Jericho and Jordan Valley Governorate,” Al-Khalili said. “Each initiative will receive financial support ranging from USD 5,000 to USD 7,000, contributing to strengthening women’s capacity to establish and develop productive enterprises and achieve greater economic independence.”

The minister added: “The initiatives will encompass a diverse range of sectors, including the manufacturing of perfumes and related products, smart agriculture, the production of aromatic and medicinal plants, beekeeping, food processing, and green economy projects. These initiatives form part of the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen the economic participation of Palestinian women and expand their opportunities in the labour market.”

The field tour also included a visit to the Industrial Estates Authority and a tour of several production facilities operating within the industrial estate, including factories engaged in various national industries. The delegation received a briefing on the current state of the industrial sector, as well as the key challenges and opportunities for promoting investment and generating employment opportunities.
