Al-Khalili: Palestinian Children Are Paying a Heavy Price for Israel’s Aggression and Systematic Violations

Al-Khalili affirmed that the violations endured by Palestinian children, particularly in the Gaza Strip, constitute a flagrant breach of international humanitarian law and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. She stressed that these violations require urgent international action to halt the crimes and ensure the necessary protection for Palestinian children.

The fact sheet noted that thousands of children have been killed, injured, or forcibly displaced since the onset of the aggression on the Gaza Strip. It also highlighted the continued violations against children in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, such as settler attacks, arrests, forced displacement, and restrictions on access to education and essential services.

The fact sheet also addressed the conditions of Palestinian child detainees in Israeli prisons, including the violations, ill-treatment, and deprivation of fundamental rights they endure, as well as the profound psychological and social consequences resulting from war, violence, displacement, and the loss of family members.

Al-Khalili affirmed that protecting Palestinian children requires ending the policy of impunity and holding accountable those responsible for violations committed against them. She stressed that the protection of Palestinian children is not only a national responsibility, but also a legal and moral obligation incumbent upon the entire international community, to ensure their rights to life, dignity, security, and a safe and just future.
