Ramallah - National Library: The Palestinian National Library and the Ministry of Women's Affairs have begun steps to establish the National Archive for Palestinian Women. This was discussed during a coordination meeting held yesterday, Sunday, at the National Library, attended by the President of the Palestinian National Library, Professor Marwan Awartani, the Minister of Women's Affairs, Ms. Mona Khalili, the expert in women's documentation and oral history, Dr. Faiha Abdul Hadi, the General Director of the Publisher's Institution, Mr. Saad Abdul Hadi, and the expert in archeology and history, Dr. Hamdan Taha.

This meeting comes as a continuation of the national initiative launched by the Ministry of Women's Affairs in partnership with the Palestinian National Library, which aims to launch a comprehensive electronic archiving process to document the role of Palestinian women throughout history, in various political, social, cultural, economic, media, and sports fields, both within the homeland and in the diaspora.

The meeting included a discussion of the conceptual paper related to the project, the mechanisms for forming a specialized national committee to document the Palestinian women's archive, as well as exploring international partnerships, funding plans, and preparations for holding a national conference to officially announce the project.

Professor Marwan Awartani emphasized that the project is part of the national mission of the library in preserving the Palestinian cultural and historical heritage, noting that the current phase represents an important opportunity to digitalize the Palestinian archive and make it globally accessible according to the latest international standards.

On her side, Dr. Faiha Abdul Hadi emphasized the importance of building a comprehensive national archive that documents the experiences and various issues of Palestinian women, especially in light of the current circumstances, stressing the need to develop a sustainable institutional framework that preserves the Palestinian feminist narrative for future generations.

 Dr. Hamdan Taha also pointed out the importance of deepening the historical dimension of the National Archive of Palestinian Women and linking it to the Palestinian civilizational and cultural heritage across different eras or phases, with the necessity of documenting the contemporary roles of Palestinian women in facing national and society challenges.

Participants discussed the importance of expanding documentation to include all places where the Palestinian people reside, including the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Palestinian interior, and the diaspora, with a focus on documenting the experiences of Palestinian women, the issues of female prisoners, and the role of Palestinian women during the current phase.
