AlKhalili meets with displaced women from Jenin Refugee camp and listens to their needs and ideas to strengthen their resilience.

During her tour visit in Jenin Governorate, the Minister of Women's Affairs, Ms. Mona Khalili, and her accompanying delegation met with the displaced women from Jenin camp at the office of the Popular Services Committee at the Arab American University. The meeting was attended by the head of the "Never Forget" Association, Ms. Farha Abu Heija, and the head of the Popular Services Committee in the Jenin camp, Mr. Mohammed Al-Sabbagh, to learn about the reality and needs of the displaced women and to listen to their ideas and suggestions to enhance their resilience and support their families.

Al-Khalili confirmed that her meeting with the displaced women is a continuation of the previous meeting, emphasizing the importance of listening to their realities and integrating them into the economic initiative. She pointed out that the ministry's visit to Jenin Governorate is part of launching initiatives to support women's and grassroots institutions in the Jenin and Tubas Governorates. She called on the displaced women to propose ideas and initiatives that could be supported through the economic initiatives project, contributing to the development of small projects led by women or grassroots women's institutions, and achieving a broader economic and social impact in the region.

Ms. Farha Abu Al-Heija welcomed the minister, extending appreciating her initiative to visit the displaced women, meet with them, and directly observe their reality and needs. She emphasized that the conditions faced by the displaced people from Jenin refugee camp are difficult, and that the responsibility toward them is significant, requiring concerted efforts and enhanced support.

For his part, Mr. Mohamed Al-Sabbagh affirmed that providing a safe and dignified life for the displaced requires exerted efforts and integrated support from various entities. He called for directing the projects and programs implemented by international organizations toward Jenin refugee Camp. Therefore, this would contribute to improving the situation of the displaced, especially women who bear the responsibility of supporting their families amid difficult economic conditions and declining job opportunities.

Her excellency listened carefully to displaced women interventions, who evaluated all the exerted efforts of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs to visit them and know and understand about the their realities, as they assured that local committees is continuing to work in providing services for  the displaced people although they endure very difficult situation. The Interventions were stressing and focusing about the importance of supporting small economic enterprises and microcredit projects leaded by women or women institutions. Moreover, the interventions also focused on providing required trainings, especially trainings in the areas of marketing and promoting the products, which will enhance and strengthen such projects and will sustain it and strengthen the capability of families to confront and cope with the serious and suffocating economic conditions.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to hold an open discussion between displaced women and the Ministry of Women's Affairs in the upcoming period, with the aim of articulating their needs and ideas and setting work priorities, in preparation for presenting them to international organizations and relevant governmental and official bodies, contributing to the development of practical responses that align with the reality of the displaced women and the needs of the region.
