The meeting discussed an initiative to coordinate with Mrs. Graça Machel, the wife of the late South African President Nelson Mandela, who is connected to a network comprising about 20 active organizations in 20 African countries. The aim is to organize an African women's solidarity convoy to support Palestinian women, which would help mitigate the repercussions of the aggression, enhance the humanitarian response to the needs of women and girls, and garner more regional and international support and solidarity with Palestinian women.
The two sides also reviewed the most significant progress made in the fields of women's empowerment, particularly in legal empowerment, enhancing political and economic participation, raising societal awareness, addressing negative social phenomena, and promoting the safe use of technology and the digital space, emphasizing the importance of exchanging experiences and best practices between the two countries to contribute to the development of policies and programs supporting women's rights.
The minister, Al-Khalili, emphasized the important role played by the Arab Republic of Egypt in supporting the Palestinian cause, appreciating the efforts of the National Council for Women in promoting women's issues at both levels the national and regional level, and commending the deep fraternal relations that bind the two countries.
On her part, Counselor Amal Ammar affirmed the National Council for Women’s solidarity with Palestinian women and the Council's readiness to continue coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Women's Affairs, which enhances joint efforts to support the resilience of Palestinian women and expand regional partnerships aimed at empowering them and responding to their needs in light of the exceptional circumstances they are experiencing.
