Al-Khalili discusses with the Executive Director of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation the situation of Palestinian women and the enhancement of international accountability.

On the sidelines of the ninth session of the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, held in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Minister of Women's Affairs, Ms. Mona Khalili, His Excellency Dr. Hadi bin Ali Al-Yami, Executive Director of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr. Zuhair Al-Hamdallah, to discuss the reality of Palestinian women in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression, and to enhance legal and diplomatic efforts aimed at protecting their rights and holding the occupation accountable for its violations.

Al Khalili confirmed that Palestinian women and girls are facing catastrophic repercussions due to the ongoing Israeli aggression, which has left deep humanitarian, social, economic, and political impacts. She pointed to the systematic violations affecting women in Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the severe violations faced by Palestinian female prisoners.

Al-Khalili affirmed that the State of Palestine continues its efforts at the international level to enhance accountability and hold the occupation accountable, pointing to the recent report by the UN Secretary-General, which blacklisted Israel for using sexual violence as a weapon of war. This came as a result of the diligent efforts made by the Ministry of Women's Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and the permanent missions of the State of Palestine in New York and Geneva. She also affirmed the continued efforts of the Palestinian government and the Ministry of Women's Affairs in supporting, empowering, and enhancing the resilience of women through national programs and initiatives.

For his part, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr. Zuhair Al-Hamdallah highlighted the importance of the diplomatic relations that link the State of Palestine with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its bodies, as well as with various international parties, and the necessity of utilizing them to support efforts aimed at holding the occupation accountable for its crimes and violations against the Palestinian people, and enhancing the presence of the Palestinian cause in international forums.

For his part, Dr. Hadi bin Ali Al-Yami emphasized the importance of continuing to shed light on the reality of Palestinian women and female prisoners and the violations they face in the West Bank, including Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. He stressed the necessity of documenting these crimes and bringing them to international human rights mechanisms to enhance accountability efforts.

Al-Yami also emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination with relevant Palestinian institutions, utilizing available human rights and diplomatic mechanisms to support Palestinian rights, and enhancing the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its bodies in this field.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al-Yami extended an invitation to Minister Al Khalili to participate and deliver a speech at the 28th session of the conference "Protecting Women and Families in the Era of Digital Transformation," scheduled to be held next December in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
