Minister of Women's Affairs reviews the situation in the Al-Sha'rawiya area of ​​Tulkarm and emphasizes the importance of supporting development and women's empowerment.

The Minister of Women's Affairs, Ms. Mona Khalili and the accompanying delegation visited the Joint Services Council in the Sha'rawiya area of Tulkarm Governorate, where they were received by the council's president, Walid Nazmi, in the presence of the Deputy Governor of Tulkarm, Mr. Faisal Salama, and the heads and members of the municipalities of Saida, Illar, Attil, Baqa al-Sharqiya, Deir al-Ghusun, and the Western, Central, and Eastern AlNazleh.

AlKhalili emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation with joint service councils and local authorities, considering them as essential partners in supporting development efforts and responding to citizen’s needs. She pointed out that the occupation constitutes a major obstacle to development efforts and limits the ability of local communities to progress, especially in areas affected by the wall, land confiscation, and ongoing assaults. She emphasized the importance of integrating women's issues into local plans and programs, and enhancing their access to economic and social empowerment opportunities and participation in development.

The head of the Joint Services Council for Sha'rawiya, Mr. Walid Nazmi, reviewed the reality of the region and the challenges it faces, including the effects of the separation wall, attempts at displacement, land confiscation, and the difficult economic conditions that impact the lives of citizens. He emphasized the importance of concerted efforts among various institutions to strengthen the resilience of the region and support its developmental needs.

The Deputy Governor of Tulkarm, Mr. Faisal Salama, emphasized the importance of strengthening the resilience of citizens in light of the continuous targeting of the Palestinian people in various places of their presence, stressing the importance of the integration of efforts between official and local institutions to support the needs of citizens and enhance their ability to face challenges.

The meeting witnessed a discussion by female members of municipal and local councils about the reality of women in the region, where they emphasized the importance of supporting small and women-led projects, providing marketing opportunities for products, and enhancing their access to markets, in light of rising unemployment rates and economic challenges. The participants also highlighted the importance of establishing women's centers in local areas and encouraging municipalities to launch projects and programs targeting women and enhancing their economic and social participation.

This visit is part of the Ministry of Women's Affairs tour in Tulkarm Governorate, to assess and view the situation of Palestinian women and local institutions, strengthen national partnerships, and support programs and initiatives aimed at empowering women and enhancing their resilience.
