The Minister of Women's Affairs meets with women's organizations and committees in Balata Camp and emphasizes the importance of concerted efforts to support the camp's steadfastness.

Her Excellency the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Ms. Mona Al-Khalili, met with women’s organizations and committees in Balata Refugee Camp as part of the efforts to strengthen engagement with women, listen to their needs and the challenges they face, and explore ways to support initiatives and programs that contribute to strengthening their resilience and empowerment.

During the meeting, Al-Khalili presented the economic empowerment initiative launched by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs. She emphasized that women’s associations and individual initiatives may submit applications to benefit from the initiative, thereby, supporting economic projects, expanding women’s productive opportunities, and advancing their economic independence.

Al-Khalili listened to the needs expressed by women and representatives of the camp’s committees and institutions. She affirmed that the Palestinian Government attaches particular importance to Balata Refugee Camp and its needs, stressing the need for coordinated efforts among all official institutions, civil society organizations, and relevant stakeholders to improve conditions in the camp, respond to the needs of its residents, and strengthen partnerships that support the resilience of women and the local community.

The participants agreed to prioritize girls integration into the labour market, strengthen the role of women’s centres, and enhance their capacity to remain resilient in the face of the brutal aggression targeting the refugee camps and UNRWA.
