The Minister of Women's Affairs and the Governor of Nablus discuss priorities for supporting women and strengthening their resilience.

Nablus – August 2, 2026

Her Excellency the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Ms. Mona Al-Khalili, met with the Governor of Nablus, Mr. Ghassan Daghlas, at the Governorate headquarters. The two sides discussed the situation of Palestinian women in Nablus Governorate and the key challenges they face under the current circumstances, particularly amid escalating attacks by the occupation forces and settlers against several towns and villages across the governorate and their repercussions for the economic and social conditions of Palestinian families.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Ms. Buthaina Al-Salem, representatives of the General Union of Palestinian Women, and a number of representatives of women’s organizations in the governorate.

The Governor of Nablus, Mr. Ghassan Daghlas, emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among the various national institutions to address the challenges facing the governorate amid the ongoing attacks targeting citizens, villages and towns and their direct economic and social repercussions. The Governor stressed the importance of strengthening the resilience of citizens, particularly women.

For her part, Al-Khalili outlined the Ministry of Women’s Affairs key areas and main priorities of work, which focus on economic and social empowerment, strengthening the protection system, and advancing policies that are more responsive to women’s needs. She affirmed that the Ministry continues to work in partnership with various national and local institutions to develop interventions that strengthen women’s resilience and expand opportunities for their economic and social participation, in line with the Palestinian Government’s priorities for supporting the most affected groups by the current circumstances.

The meeting formed part of a field visit tour led by Her Excellency the Minister of Women’s Affairs in Nablus Governorate, aimed at gaining a closer understanding of Palestinian women circumstances and needs. Moreover, the visit aim to strengthening engagement with official institutions, civil society organizations and women’s organizations, and exploring ways to develop partnerships that support women’s resilience, advance their economic and social empowerment, and strengthen the protection system in the governorate.
