The Minister of Women's Affairs discusses with MP Aida Touma-Suleiman issues concerning Palestinian women and ways to document their struggles.

Ramallah – The Minister of Women's Affairs, Ms. Mona Khalili, during a meeting with Deputy Aida Touma Suleiman, and with the participation of Ms. Intisar Al-Wazir, discussed the reality of Palestinian women and the main challenges they face in the areas of protection, economic empowerment, and political and social participation.

Al-Khalili emphasized that the issues of Palestinian women, in all their locations, are an integral part of the ministry's national priorities, stressing the importance of unifying efforts to monitor the violations faced by women, enhancing the exchange of information and experiences, and developing policies and interventions that respond to their needs.

The meeting addressed the rise in violence and crime, discrimination in job opportunities and wages, the underrepresentation of women in decision-making positions, gaps in protection and social care services, as well as the economic and social violations faced by Palestinian women.

The meeting also addressed the importance of archiving the struggles of Palestinian women and preserving their national memory, documenting their contributions in various stages of the national struggle, the political, community, and feminist work, ensuring the transfer of this experience to future generations, and enhancing their presence in the national narrative, curricula, and cultural and intellectual platforms.

Ms. Intisar Al Wazir, emphasized the importance of documenting the historical experience of Palestinian women and highlighting their continuous role in protecting national identity and strengthening community resilience, in addition to, their contributions to national, social, and institutional work.

The participants agreed to continue communication and exchange of information and expertise, and to enhance cooperation in the fields of combating violence, economic and political empowerment, care economy, monitoring violations, and archiving the feminist movement and the struggles of Palestinian women.
