The Minister of Women's Affairs, Ms. Mona Khalili, during her tour in Bethlehem Governorate, visited the town of Artas, where she was received by the mayor, Jamil Rabaiya, and the members of the municipal council. The visit aimed to assess the town's situation, the challenges it faces, and the efforts made by the municipality to develop services and strengthen the resilience of the citizens.

The Minister of Women's Affairs, Ms. Mona Khalili emphasized the importance of supporting local institutions and enhancing their role in serving the community, praising the efforts made by the Artas Municipality in preserving the town's identity and strengthening its resilience in facing challenges. She pointed out the government's attention to areas facing special circumstances and its keenness to strengthen partnerships with local institutions to understand their needs and support their efforts.

Al-Khalili praised the experience of the municipal council in Artas, especially the participation of young men and women in municipal work, emphasizing the importance of enhancing their presence in managing public affairs and contributing to local decision-making, as this plays a role in developing institutional work and serving the community.

 The Mayor of Artas, Jamil Rabaiya, welcomed the visit of the Minister of Women's Affairs and the accompanying delegation, appreciating the government's interest in the town of Artas and its keenness to understand its reality. He pointed out that the visit of several ministers and officials to the town reflects the importance of the challenges it faces and the necessity of supporting it.

Rabiah reviewed the municipality's efforts to list Artas on the UNESCO World Heritage list, by highlighting its history and significance, in addition to, enhancing its media presence locally and internationally. As it will accordingly, raise awareness about the town's reality and the violations and assaults it faces from settlers, especially in the Birket Sulaiman area.

He confirmed that the municipality is working on developing the infrastructure and improving the services provided to citizens, despite, the conditions and challenges facing the town. He pointed out that the current municipal council serves as a model for youth participation, as it includes young men and women working to serve the local community and enhance the role of the youth in municipal work.
