AL-Khalili stresses the importance of women’s labor issuesالخليلي تؤكد على أهمية القضايا النسوية العمالية

In her meeting with Mr. Shaher Saad, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Federation of Trade Unions and the accompanying delegation on Tuesday in her office in Ramallah, Ms. Muna Al-Khalili, the Minister of Women’s Affairs, stressed on the importance of working on the common issues regarding female workers with Labor laws and legislation governing the relationship between workers and employers.

She praised the role of the labor union movement and the Palestinian working class, and confirmed the ministry’s willingness to cooperate and engage with the Federation and partners on common issues concerning female workers, which leads to increase their efficiency, recognize their rights and contributes to the empowerment of working women by pushing forward to activation of social security and wage equity commission; In addition to the government’s keenness to create mechanisms to ensure access to justice, equality and empowerment.

In turn, Mr. Saad explained that the Federation seeks to lift the injustice directed towards workers including females, and encourages them to join labor unions in their work place where they may suffer from violence due to the lack of supportive union frameworks for women and advocating for their rights. 

He also confirmed that the federation is working to protect the economic and social rights of female workers, which are still incomplete and subject to violations, particularly for those working in informal sectors.

أكدت وزيرة شؤون المرأة منى الخليلي على أهمية العمل على القضايا المشتركة التي تهم النساء العاملات بالقوانين والتشريعات العمالية التي تنظم العلاقة بين العمال وأصحاب العمل. 

جاء ذلك في الاجتماع الذي عقد اليوم الثلاثاء، في مقر الوزارة، مع الأمين العام لنقابات عمال فلسطين شاهر سعد والوفد المرافق. 

وأشادت الخليلي بالحركة النقابية وبالطبقة العاملة الفلسطينية، كما وأكدت على استعداد وجهوزية الوزارة للتعاون والحوار مع الاتحاد والشركاء، في القضايا المشتركة التي تهم النساء العاملات بالقوانين والتشريعات العمالية التي تنظم العلاقة بين العمال وأصحاب العمل، مما يزيد كفائتهن وإلمامهن بحقوقهن، وبما يساهم في تمكين المرأة العاملة، من خلال العمل على تفعيل الضمان الاجتماعي ولجنة إنصاف الأجور.

وأكدت الخليلي على حرص الحكومة على خلق آليات تضمن الوصول إلى العدالة والمساواة والتمكين.  

بدوره، سعد أوضح أن الاتحاد يسعى الى رفع الظلم الموجه اتجاه العاملات والعمال، ويشجع النساء العاملات للإنضمام إلى المنظمات النقابية الموجودة في مواقع عملهن، حيث يكنّ عرضة للعنف في أماكن عمل فاقدة للأطر النقابية الداعمة للمرأة والمدافعة عن حقوقها، وأكد على أن نقابات العمال تعمل على توفير الحماية للحقوق الاقتصادية والاجتماعية للنساء العاملات، وهي حقوق لا تزال غير مكتملة وخاضعة للانتهاكات في عالم العمل، وخاصة للنساء العاملات في القطاعات غير النظامية.
